Kazuto Arakawa is a Vice Director and Professor at Next Generation Tatara Co-Creation Centre (NEXTA), Shimane University, Japan, and a Vice Director and Specially Appointed Professor at Research Centre for Ultra-High Voltage Electron Microscopy, Osaka University, Japan. He has been studying dynamics of radiation-produced lattice defects in metals and alloys for nuclear-fission and fusion systems, using in-situ transmission electron microscopy. Recently, he is also investigating elementary processes of hydrogen embrittlement in steels and deformation of iron-based soft-magnetic amorphous alloys and additive manufactured heat-resistant superalloys, etc.
